Invisalign®: the benefits

Why choose Invisalign®? Here are the key advantages:

Book a consultation

Removable

Can be removed for eating, brushing, or special occasions.

Clear, No Metal

The aligners do not have metal parts.

Oral Hygiene

Removable trays allow normal brushing and flossing.

Material

Made from thin, BPA-free plastic designed for use on teeth.

Visits

In-person checkups are scheduled by your orthodontist as clinically required.

Daily activities

Treatment is designed to fit around your normal routines.

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® aligners are clear, removable plastic trays that are custom-fit to your teeth. They are designed to be just a little too snug for your teeth. That tightness puts pressure on your teeth, which makes them move, similar to the way traditional metal braces work.

Unlike regular braces, however, the aligner trays have no metal parts. They are made from BPA-free plastic and are clear.

Flexible Payment Plans

In some cases, treatment may begin at your first appointment if clinically appropriate. Our team will guide you through the process and discuss options suitable for you.

What can
Invisalign® do?

Invisalign® can be used to help manage a range of orthodontic conditions, including:

Teeth crowding

Crowding happens when there is insufficient space for all of the teeth in your mouth. Crowded teeth are crooked and overlap each other.

No metal smiles

Upper teeth normally close down over the outer edge of the opposing lower teeth. In a crossbite, the lower teeth close over the outside of the upper teeth.

Crossbite

Wide spaces between your teeth may make you feel self-conscious about your smile.

Underbite

Also called a reverse bite, underbite occurs when the lower jaw and front teeth protrude beyond the upper front teeth.

Overbite

In an overbite, the upper front teeth completely cover the lower teeth when they close together.

Protrusion

A protrusion is most obvious when upper front teeth prominently jut outwards beyond the lower front teeth.

Open bite

If your upper and lower teeth do not meet when you close your mouth, then you may have an open bite.

Overjet

Overjet refers to upper front teeth that protrude horizontally away from the lower front teeth. This results in an atypical horizontal distance between the upper and lower teeth.

Frequently asked questions

What is a specialist orthodontist?

A specialist orthodontist is a dental professional who has undergone additional education to become registered as a specialist in the field of orthodontics in Australia. All the orthodontists that work with us at Ocean Orthodontics in Maroochydore are registered specialists. Start your treatment knowing you're in safe hands.

What is an Invisalign Diamond Provider?

Being an Invisalign® Diamond Provider means we treat a large number of patients with Invisalign each year.

What if I’m scared to visit the dentist?

We understand that dental anxiety is a very real issue. We take your concerns seriously because we have all been dental patients ourselves, at some point. Rest assured that we truly care about you and will do our very best to create a positive and relaxing environment at our Maroochydore practice so that you can feel comfortable getting the orthodontic treatment you need without letting fear hold you back. Please contact us to let us know about your situation and we will guide you on the next steps to take.

How long has Ocean Orthodontics been operating?

Our practice has been helping families smile with confidence on the Sunshine Coast since 2003. With nearly two decades of experience, we have built a reputation for delivering an enjoyable treatment journey whilst creating a beautiful, confident smile for our patients.

Do you offer flexible payment plans for orthodontic treatment?

Yes, we provide flexible payment plans to accommodate different budgets. Our costs start from as low as $80 per week, allowing you to receive high-quality orthodontic treatment without breaking the bank.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes. At Ocean Orthodontics, we offer special discounts for your immediate family members and discounts for paying the cost of your treatment upfront. You can also take advantage of our same-day smiles offer: Start treatment on the same day of your first appointment and get $500 off your braces or clear aligner cost, providing you qualify for treatment. We also offer affordable interest-free payment options.

Why do clear aligners cost the same as fixed braces at your practice?

We believe that the cost of a treatment you genuinely need should not compel you to choose a cheaper alternative. We have structured our treatment options into four-tiered packages based upon the length and complexity of your treatment. This means that no matter which tier your treatment needs fall under, you will pay the same price for any treatments available in that tier.

How are Invisalign® aligners different from braces?

A specialist orthodontist is a dental professional who is registered to practice orthodontics as a specialist in Australia. Our experienced team comprises entirely of registered specialist orthodontists.

What problems can you fix with orthodontic treatment?

Orthodontic treatments can address a wide range of problems including crowding, gaps, protruding teeth, bite alignment issues and more. To find out which orthodontic treatment could help you, schedule a consultation with one of our doctors or send us photos of your smile in a remote consultation.

Are braces painful?

Getting braces placed does not hurt, at all. You may experience some discomfort afterwards, however, as your teeth adjust to the pressure from your orthodontic appliance. This discomfort is very easy to manage with cold compresses and pain-relieving medication.

Should I get Invisalign® or braces?

We offer both Invisalign® and traditional metal braces at our practices. One of our experienced doctors will assess your orthodontic needs and recommend the treatment that is right for you. Fortunately, both treatments cost the same at Ocean Orthodontics so you will not have to choose between the two based on price.

If I have Invisalign® treatment, can I still play sport?

Yes, you can absolutely still play sports. One of the best things about Invisalign® is that it will not interfere with your daily activities. However, Invisalign® is not the same thing as a mouthguard. We recommend wearing a mouthguard to protect your teeth in contact sports and we can make you a custom mouthguard to wear in place of Invisalign® aligners when you play sports.

From what age can I bring my child?

We recommend bringing your child for a checkup by the age of seven. At this point, your child will likely have a mix of adult and baby teeth. Our team can detect and address common childhood problems such as crowding and teeth spacing issues before they appear.

How quickly can you straighten my teeth?

Teeth move at different rates and everyone is different. For example, cases of minor cosmetic adjustments may take only three to six months. More complex cases can take more than a year to correct. The only way we can give you an estimate of your treatment time is to let one of our doctors examine your teeth.
