We offer two types of braces here at our Maroochydore orthodontic practice.

To determine which treatment option may be most suitable for you, book a consultation with our doctor here at Ocean Orthodontics.

Most orthodontic braces consist of wires attached to metal brackets with small rubber bands, which are then cemented directly to teeth. Different types of braces may be recommended depending on your individual needs.

Traditional metal braces

Classic “colour braces” get their appearance from the elastic bands that hold the wire in the brackets.

Metal braces are a well-established orthodontic treatment that remain widely used and can be suitable for patients of various ages.

Discreet clear braces

Clear (or invisible) braces use ceramic brackets with tooth-coloured bands and wires.

These braces provide orthodontic treatment similar to traditional braces and are available as an alternative to metal brackets.

Clear aligners

If you prefer to avoid brackets and wires? We also offer Invisalign® and Angel Aligners as treatment alternatives. These clear aligners are metal-free and removable, which may make eating, brushing and flossing easier for some patients. Learn more about clear aligners by visiting our Invisalign® or Angel Aligners pages.

Frequently asked questions about braces.

Do I really need to get braces?

Braces can help align teeth, which may make them easier to clean. Properly aligned teeth can support oral hygiene and may help reduce the risk of issues such as tooth decay and gum disease.

If you are considering treatment for misaligned teeth, you can schedule a consultation with our specialist orthodontist at Ocean Orthodontics in Maroochydore to discuss the treatment options that may be suitable for you.

Are braces painful?

Some mild discomfort can occur as teeth gradually move during treatment. These sensations are usually temporary and tend to ease as your teeth adjust. At Ocean Orthodontics, we will guide you in choosing a treatment suited to your needs and provide tips to help manage any discomfort that may arise.

Is it too late for me to get braces?

It is never too late to straighten your teeth. Adults of all ages sometimes consider orthodontic treatment. We recommend a consultation with our team in Maroochydore to assess whether your teeth are suitable for braces. Dental health is a key factor in orthodontic treatment, regardless of age.

We recommend that you have a consultation with our team in Maroochydore to make sure that your teeth are ready for braces.

How do I clean my teeth with braces?

The exact type of braces you have determines which techniques and tools you will use to clean your teeth. We will recommend a personalised oral hygiene routine that can help you keep your teeth healthy throughout the course of your treatment.

What is the best type of braces?

There is no single type of braces that works the same for everyone. The important thing is to choose a treatment that works best for you. Plan a visit to Ocean Orthodontics to have an initial consultation where you can learn more about the best types of braces.
