Full braces

Invisalign comprehensive

We offer two types of braces here at our Maroochydore orthodontic practice.
To determine which treatment option may be most suitable for you, book a consultation with our doctor here at Ocean Orthodontics.
Most orthodontic braces consist of wires attached to metal brackets with small rubber bands, which are then cemented directly to teeth. Different types of braces may be recommended depending on your individual needs.

What word comes to mind when you think of invisible braces?
Most likely, you think of Invisalign®.
Invisalign® is one of the most widely used clear dental aligner systems in the world, having treated more than eight million patients.
At Ocean Orthodontics in Maroochydore, we are Invisalign® Diamond providers.
Benefits of orthodontic treatment
Why consider braces or aligners? Orthodontic treatment can help support oral health and improve bite function.
Oral health support
Orthodontic treatment can help improve tooth alignment and bite function, supporting healthier teeth and gums.
May improve bite and comfort
Correcting bite issues can ease jaw strain, headaches and uneven tooth wear.
Patient experiences
Some patients report feeling more confident or comfortable with their oral care following treatment.
Improved speech
Orthodontic treatment may support clearer speech in some cases.
Customised Care
Treatment plans are tailored to each patient’s individual needs by our specialist orthodontists.
What is Invisalign®? The clear alternative to braces in Maroochydore
Invisalign® aligners are clear, removable plastic trays that are custom-fit to your teeth.
They are designed to be just a little too snug for your teeth. That tightness puts pressure on your teeth, which makes them move, similar to the way traditional metal braces work.
Unlike regular braces, however, the aligner trays have no metal parts. They are made from BPA-free plastic and are practically invisible.

Same-Day Treatment Possibilities
Depending on your assessment, it may be possible to begin certain treatments on the same day as your consultation. Your orthodontist will determine whether your oral health and treatment plan make this suitable.
What can
orthodontics do?
Orthodontics can address a variety of orthodontic problems including:
Teeth crowding
Crowding happens when there is insufficient space for all of the teeth in your mouth. Crowded teeth are crooked and overlap each other.
No metal brackets
Upper teeth normally close down over the outer edge of the opposing lower teeth. In a crossbite, the lower teeth close over the outside of the upper teeth.
Crossbite
Wide spaces between your teeth may make you feel self-conscious about your smile.
Underbite
Also called a reverse bite, underbite occurs when the lower jaw and front teeth protrude beyond the upper front teeth.
Overbite
In an overbite, the upper front teeth completely cover the lower teeth when they close together.
Protrusion
A protrusion is most obvious when upper front teeth prominently jut outwards beyond the lower front teeth.
Open bite
If your upper and lower teeth do not meet when you close your mouth, then you may have an open bite.
Overjet
Overjet refers to upper front teeth that protrude horizontally away from the lower front teeth. This results in an atypical horizontal distance between the upper and lower teeth.
Aligners are designed to be removable and convenient for daily life.

How long has Ocean Orthodontics been operating?
Our practice has been providing orthodontic care to families on the Sunshine Coast since 2003. With nearly two decades of experience, our team focuses on delivering personalised treatment and support throughout your orthodontic journey.
Do I really need to get braces?
Braces can help align teeth, which may make them easier to clean. Properly aligned teeth can support oral hygiene and may help reduce the risk of issues such as tooth decay and gum disease.
If you are considering treatment for misaligned teeth, you can schedule a consultation with our specialist orthodontist at Ocean Orthodontics in Maroochydore to discuss the treatment options that may be suitable for you.
Are braces painful?
Some mild discomfort can occur as teeth gradually move during treatment. These sensations are usually temporary and tend to ease as your teeth adjust. At Ocean Orthodontics, we will guide you in choosing a treatment suited to your needs and provide tips to help manage any discomfort that may arise.
Is it too late for me to get braces?
It is never too late to straighten your teeth. Adults of all ages sometimes consider orthodontic treatment. We recommend a consultation with our team in Maroochydore to assess whether your teeth are suitable for braces. Dental health is a key factor in orthodontic treatment, regardless of age.
We recommend that you have a consultation with our team in Maroochydore to make sure that your teeth are ready for braces.
How do I clean my teeth with braces?
The exact type of braces you have determines which techniques and tools you will use to clean your teeth. We will recommend a personalised oral hygiene routine that can help you keep your teeth healthy throughout the course of your treatment.
What is the best type of braces?
There is no single type of braces that works the same for everyone. The important thing is to choose a treatment that works best for you. Plan a visit to Ocean Orthodontics to have an initial consultation where you can learn more about the best types of braces.
Do you offer flexible payment plans for orthodontic treatment?
Yes, we provide flexible payment plans to accommodate different budgets. Our costs start from as low as $80 per week, allowing you to receive high-quality orthodontic treatment without breaking the bank.

Current Offer: $750 Off Invisalign Save $750 on Comprehensive or Comprehensive Plus Invisalign treatment (typically $10,000+ and 18+ months). Valid for new patients who book, attend a consultation, and accept treatment by 30 June 2026. Not valid with any other offer. Subject to clinical suitability and orthodontist approval. See full terms below.
Why do clear aligners cost the same as fixed braces at your practice?
We believe that the cost of a treatment you genuinely need should not compel you to choose a cheaper alternative. We have structured our treatment options into four-tiered packages based upon the length and complexity of your treatment. This means that no matter which tier your treatment needs fall under, you will pay the same price for any treatments available in that tier.
How are Invisalign® aligners different from braces?
A specialist orthodontist is a dental professional who is registered to practice orthodontics as a specialist in Australia. Our experienced team comprises entirely of registered specialist orthodontists.
What problems can you fix with orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontic treatments can address a wide range of problems including crowding, gaps, protruding teeth, bite alignment issues and more. To find out which orthodontic treatment could help you, schedule a consultation with one of our doctors or send us photos of your smile in a remote consultation.
Are braces painful?
Getting braces placed does not hurt, at all. You may experience some discomfort afterwards, however, as your teeth adjust to the pressure from your orthodontic appliance. This discomfort is very easy to manage with cold compresses and pain-relieving medication.
Should I get Invisalign® or braces?
We offer both Invisalign® and traditional metal braces at our practices. One of our experienced doctors will assess your orthodontic needs and recommend the treatment that is right for you. Fortunately, both treatments cost the same at Ocean Orthodontics so you will not have to choose between the two based on price.
If I have Invisalign® treatment, can I still play sport?
Yes, you can absolutely still play sports. One of the best things about Invisalign® is that it will not interfere with your daily activities. However, Invisalign® is not the same thing as a mouthguard. We recommend wearing a mouthguard to protect your teeth in contact sports and we can make you a custom mouthguard to wear in place of Invisalign® aligners when you play sports.
From what age can I bring my child?
We recommend bringing your child for a checkup by the age of seven. At this point, your child will likely have a mix of adult and baby teeth. Our team can detect and address common childhood problems such as crowding and teeth spacing issues before they appear.
How quickly can you straighten my teeth?
Teeth move at different rates and everyone is different. For example, cases of minor cosmetic adjustments may take only three to six months. More complex cases can take more than a year to correct. The only way we can give you an estimate of your treatment time is to let one of our doctors examine your teeth.
